  • Why Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite Is A Game Changer TG Daily | Mar 28 The Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite is one of the advanced processors with NPUs (Neural Processing Units) coming to market this year. What makes it a potential game changer is that it starts from the deep understanding Qualcomm has of battery life, connectivity and mobile features that define it in the smartphone space. And with our ever-greater reliance on the cloud, particularly with the advent of generative AI, the time is almost perfect to challenge the mobile PC market with an optimized mobile part with the sustainability advantage of needing far less power to operate.
  • GTC 2024: The Brilliant Insanity of Nvidia’s CEO and Which AI Vendors Stood Out TechNewsWorld | Mar 25 Last week was Nvidia’s GTC, which I think should be renamed since we connect the “G” in GTC to GPU, and this event was mainly about AI. If you are interested in AI, you should watch the keynote from the event. It was fricken amazing! The Disney robots stole the show! I was there, and even though the venue sucked, I still place it as one of the most amazing events I’ve ever experienced in line with the Windows 95 launch. Other CEOs should use this keynote as the new standard for how these things should be done.
  • IBM vs. Microsoft vs. NVIDIA and AI techspective | Mar 22 Twenty years ago, NVIDIA and Microsoft were nowhere with AI, while IBM’s Watson was winning Jeopardy! and later taking on professional debaters. Conventional knowledge was that IBM was going to own AI, but no one seemed to care since projections at the time indicated that AI wouldn’t take off until sometime around 2040, when general-purpose AI was expected to become viable. Microsoft had a leading AI concept in Cortana but didn’t invest in it any more than Apple invested in Siri. Eventually, it was quietly phased out.
  • NVIDIA Evolves From Being A GPU Company To Being The First AI Factory To Create Magic TG Daily | Mar 22 We tend to form rigid views of people and companies. We meet someone as a child and that initial impression can stay with us even after the person has had a career, kids and is still a little like the child we remember. With companies, we can even become more rigid because we form our impression around the products and services we initially use, not the capabilities of the company that evolve over time. Most folks I talk to, for instance, still think of BlackBerry as a smartphone company even though it left that business over a decade ago and is now one of the leading pure play security companies.

Benefits of customized generative AI bots

[Customized generative AI bots have some advantages over general-purpose bots like ChatGPT.] “Generally, they are more focused and able to do one or a few things well and potentially better. ... They generally are derivatives of large LLMs, but because they are reduced and more focused, in theory, they are less likely to do things you don’t want done.”

How TikTok and other services could be ripe for delivering malware and what lawmakers should do

"The question is whether TikTok is any more harmful than say Truth Social or X. Rather than cherry picking one service, lawmakers should be crafting a remedy that would apply to all services."

Elon Musk’s new service that will stream long-form videos to X users via select smart TVs

“The likelihood that he’ll try this is high. The likelihood, given how he has mismanaged Twitter, in him doing this right is exceedingly low. This is not an area he has shown a competency in.”

AI defense possibly missing from the DoD’s hierarchy of needs

“When you are talking about using AI for weapons systems and strategic planning ... should the AI be compromised what it controls or provides ... could be corrupted to a degree where it effectively turns against its owner which is certainly problematic in a civilian situation but potentially deadly when we are talking about a defense implementation.”
