  • Sweden's 1766 Freedom of the Press Act has been awarded UNESCO Memory of the World status.

  • Janis Kreslins, a senior academic librarian at Sweden's National Library, says the more than 250-year-old document represents a key part of Swedish national identity.

  • Sweden performed worse this year in the press freedom index published by Reporters Without Borders. Erik Larsson is president of the organisation's Swedish branch, and says journalists here are facing a number of challenges.
