모든 기업의 위험(Risk)는 불확실성에서 기인한다. 커피 및 음료 산업에서 세계 최대 기업으로 성장한 스타벅스의 사례를 통해 어떻게 성공적으로 불확실성을 관리하여 위험을 극복하고 있는지를 살펴본다

GE의 회장이자 CEO 였던 Jack Welch는, "HR은 조직 내에서 최소한 CFO와 비슷한 위상을 가져야 한다"고 이야기한다.
반면, 모두가 혁신을 이야기하지만 동시에 기업들이 그러한 혁신을 실제로 만들어 낼 인재에 대해 쏟는 관심은 관심은 터무니없이 적은 현실을 우리는 자주 마주하게 된다.
세계에서 가장 혁신적인 기업으로 시장을 선도하고 있는 Google은 최고의 역량과 더불어 조직의 문화와 비전에 어울리는 인재를 선발하기 위한 매우 길고 까다로운 인재선발과 극단적인 성과주의를 동시에 시행함으로써 '성장'과 '끊임없는 혁신DNA'라는 두 마리 토끼를 잡고 있다.
우리는 어떠해야 하는지 세계에서 가장 혁신적인 기업 몇 곳의 사례를 통해 생각해 본다.

'관리'와 '혁신'은 상충되는 개념인 것처럼 보이나, 기업은 적절한 관리를 통해 기업 내 혁신적 DNA를 장려하고, 이를 통해 성장할 수 있다. Google의 혁신관리 방법론인 OKR (Objectives & Key Results)를 통해 혁신과 성장의 두 마리 토끼를 한꺼번에 잡을 수 있는 방법을 생각해 본다.
